Jennifer spent the early part of her career as a gymnastics coach and personal trainer, studying  Human Kinetics at both the University of Guelph and the University of Ottawa;  but it was her experience with children with disabilities that pointed her toward the profession of occupational therapy and her BHSc.(O.T.) degree at McMaster University.  With a unique focus on adapting environments, tools and ways of doing things, occupational therapy supports people with all levels of ability to engage in the things that are important to them.  From the basics of day-do-day living to participating in social interactions, from enjoying leisure activities to performing at work, occupational therapists (OTs) consider a person’s physical, cognitive and psychosocial functioning to help them achieve their goals.  This wholistic lens comes with a client-centred approach, where the client determines the treatment goal and is an equal member of the rehabilitation team.

Over the last 24 years, Jennifer has worked as an OT, providing care to veterans, to individuals injured in accidents, and to folks coming home from hospital.

With a desire to hone her focus on physical rehabilitation techniques, in 2022/23, Jennifer returned to study in an advanced health care practice program at the University of Western Ontario, graduating with a Master’s degree in Upper Extremity Rehabilitation.  Now at BPM, she offers OT assessment and treatment for conditions of the hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder
